How to Make Lace Flowers with Petals

DIY red lace flowers

Hello fellow DIY enthusiasts ♡ Today we want to share with you some ideas on making lace flowers with petals. This quick DIY project does not require any sewing experience and is perfect for beginners.

We will be making big red lace flowers with four petals. The materials you will need are:

  • Wide lace
  • Thread matching the color of the lace
  • A needle
  • Scissors

There are variety of lace patterns you can use, but we particularly liked these colors:

For those of you who are visual learners, you can also check out our video tutorial that covers three different ways to make lace flowers. Follow the steps below and you will have beautiful DIY lace flowers in less than 30 minutes.

  1. Cut 12 lace patches to make 3 flowers with 4 petals each

Fold the ends of the lace, forming a triangle. Cut the lace at the base of the triangle. Use the first patch as a mock up to measure and cut the remaining 11 patches.

  1. Use a matching color thread to make the petals

Stitch through the base of the triangle, using a thread that matches the color of the lace. Leave a longer thread at the beginning of your stitch. Once you have stitched through the base of the triangle, gather the thread to create ruffles and tie it in a nod.

  1. Attach the petals to a patch of lace

Cut three circles of the lace you are using. These circles will be the center of the flowers. If you want, you can use different fabric or color instead. Sew the petals to the fabric. We also recommend sewing the petals to each other so that the flowers are sturdier.

There are a lot of things you can decorate with these flowers. We used them to complement a white strapless dress, but you can also use them for hair clips or headbands, as well as for a variety of DIY home décor. Share your ideas for decorating with these flowers with us ♡ @FashionBulb
