Too often I see a cool picture on Pinterest, only to discover that completing the project will take up my entire weekend. Don’t get me wrong, I love DIY, but to get me excited, the projects have to be not only creative, but also simple and cheap. Anything else and I buy it from the store. Recently I come across one of these easy DIY projects that checks all the boxes. Read on to find out how you can make a DIY weekly calendar in less than 30 minutes!
First, a quick overview of the stuff I used for the DIY weekly calendar. Chalkboard labels, a wooden sign, wooden pins, and glue are the main materials you’ll need. Below you can find links to these items, as well as to some extra craft supplies to decorate the calendar.
Start by writing the week days on the chalk labels and tape them on the wooden sign. If you need to adjust the space between the labels, you can easily remove, re-tape, and re-use them.
Next, glue the pins right below the labels. Glue the keys between the pins. If you want you can also decorate with some watch gears. Make sure to use just a little bit of glue to avoid nasty glue marks.
Cut 7 rectangular cardboard pieces, wide enough to fit when hanging on the pins. Use the full chalk sheet to also cut 7 rectangular labels with the same width.
Tape the labels on the cardboard pieces and cut any uneven edges. Finally, write your weekly tasks on the chalkboard and hang the cardboard pieces on the pins.
Below you can see the finished DIY weekly calendar. This creative decorative idea also gave my entry way a more homey and rustic look.
