DIY coffee sleeves are some of those nice to have homey things that bring warmth to our decor. Instead of buying ready made cozies, try DIY-ing them! With a DIY cup cozy you can match your home decor, save some money, and add a pinch of cuteness to your morning coffee ritual. All you need to make your own DIY coffee sleeve is an old sock, scissors, thread, glue, and some decoration. If you are missing any of these materials, below you can find links to the stuff I used.
All in all, it will take you less than an hour to make the DIY coffee sleeve. Start by picking a pair of cute socks for the cozy. To make the DIY cup cozy more festive, you can choose holiday-themed socks.
Pull the sock around the cup. Then, use a seam ripper to make a slit over the handle of the cup, starting from the top of the handle. Cut any excess fabric around the mouth and the base of the cup if necessary.
Next, finish the edges of the fabric and the slit using a matching thread. You should bring the needle up from the reverse side of the fabric and pull it under the looped thread.
Finally, decorate the DIY coffee sleeve the lazy way – a.k.a. using a glue gun instead of sewing. I used different size assorted pom poms to add some festive colors to the cozy. You can also use buttons, beads, or any other cute decoration you have handy.
Below you can see my two DIY cup cozies. They turned out super cute and were very easy to make!
